Frances Reel Dobson

Frances “Granny” Dobson, age 81, of Marion, North Carolina passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born in McDowell County on September 23, 1935 to the late Jonas and Rose Ward Reel.

Frances attended the Fairview Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to quilt and enjoyed cooking breakfast for her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of sixty two years, Buddy Dobson; three children, Joyce Ann Johnson, Jim Dobson (Rhonda) and Bryan Dobson (Ronda); five siblings, Marie Bradley (Willard), Harlen Reel (Margie), Laura Bradley, Margaret Hall (Larry) and Annie Mae Compton (Roy). Also surviving Mrs. Dobson are her eight grandchildren, Llia Yuhas, Mandy Johnson, Steve Johnson, Wade Thomas, Kelci Dobson, Dillon Dobson, Dustin Dobson and Corey Dobson; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Frances’ life will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Rufus Edmisten. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. two hours prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
