Florence Gaddy

Florence Moody Gaddy, age 86, of Nebo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the McDowell Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of McDowell County, she was born August 14, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Fred and Nancy Kaylor Moody.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Hazel White and Theo Alena Allison. 

A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister, Florence was affectionately known by many as “Nana”.  She loved spending time with her family, especially going shopping with them, and known to eventually have a collection of pocket books.  She was a member of Nealsville Church of God in Marion.

Florence is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Leonard C. Gaddy; four children, Teresa Sowers (Roy), Tim Gaddy (Denise), Darryl Gaddy (Emilie) and Karen Guffey (Raymond); one brother, Fred Moody (Kathy); seven grandchildren, Matthew Sowers (Andrea), Taylor Sowers, Brandon Gaddy (Tiffany), Zachary Gaddy (Jessica), Michelle Thompson (Josh), Jayme Guffey (Kendra) and Jeremy Guffey (Caycee Wilson); and five great grandchildren, Rylan Guffey, Peyton Gaddy, Brooklee Gaddy, Mia Gaddy and Ashley Turner.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Nealsville Church of God with Pastor Travis Cook and Pastor Doug Carpenter officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
