Flora Ann Harris

Flora Ann Whiteside Harris, 87, of Union Mills, North Carolina, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on May 29, 1933 in Rutherford County to the late Charlie and Cora Eplee Whiteside.

Flora worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. A member of Montford Cove Baptist Church, she was also involved in the White House Community Club. She enjoyed working outside including mowing grass, weed eating, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She will be remembered for her talent in making beautiful flower arrangements. She also loved canning and crafts, including quilting, sewing, and cross stitch.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Fred Harris and a son, David Harris.

She is survived by three children, Geraldine Harris Holloway (Eugene), Bobby Harris (Debbie), and Jerry Harris; two grandchildren, Brian Holloway (Rhonda) and Steven Harris (Kelly); four great grandchildren, Corey Harris, Chase Harris (Alex), Alan Holloway, and Carlee Harris; two great great grandchildren, Sawyer Harris and Hunter Rose Harris; and three siblings, Henry Whiteside, Evelyn Quinton, and Hazel Cogdell.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Montford Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Shawn Berryhill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 2:00 to 3:00.
