On the evening of Monday, July 15, 2019, Annie Faye Lawing Mode, age 90, of Marion, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord. A native of McDowell County, Faye was born on April 26, 1929 to the late James Bud and Geneva Conner Lawing.
Along with her parents, Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton A. Mode and one brother, Jimmy Lawing.
Faye was a member of Glenwood Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She taught school for thirty-one years, serving at Nebo, Sugar Hill and Glenwood Elementary. She was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Faye enjoyed crafts, arranging flowers, working in her flower garden and riding the golf cart. She kept in touch with her friends mostly by telephone.
Left to cherish her memories are one brother, Larry Lawing (Sandy) of Rutherfordton; one sister-in-law, Willette Lawing of Glenwood; a number of nieces and nephews and many good friends who she spoke with by telephone daily.
A funeral service to honor Faye’s life will take place on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Larry Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Glenwood Cemetery.
