Evelyn Corina Burnette

On the morning of Monday, April 8, 2019, Evelyn Corina Burnette, age 95, of the Pleasant Gardens Community departed to be with the Lord at her residence with her loved ones by her side.  The daughter of the late Wates and Nannie Lou Burleson Burnette, she was born on November 27, 1923 in McDowell County, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, two brothers, Rev. Clifford Burnette and Cecil Burnette; and two sisters, Lurlene Souther and Lucille Woody.

Evelyn retired from Old Fort Finishing and loved gardening, sewing, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.  She attended Lackey Town Missionary Baptist Church in Old Fort.  

Left to cherish her precious memories are her special great-great niece, Brianna Souther, which was like her daughter; her close and special friends, Lorena Burnette and Bill and Barbara Morris and family; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Pastor Jeff Parker and Pastor Charles Dyke officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
