Eugene W. Hawkins

Eugene W. Hawkins, age 75, of Marion, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Wednesday, April 27, 2016 while at the Mitchell House in Spruce Pine. Born on May 8, 1940 in McDowell County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Zebulon Woodrow Hawkins and Augusta Davis Hawkins. 

Eugene, who enjoyed sports, was an avid Duke Blue Devils and Los Angeles Dodgers fan.  He was a member of Clinchfield United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy A. Hawkins and Gladys E. Hawkins Alberts. 

Mr. Hawkins is survived by his two nieces, Kimberly Williams of Marion; and Dana Moore and her husband, Terry of Old Fort; one brother-in-law, Paul Alberts of Marion; six great nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Clinchfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Wisor officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
