Etta Thrift

August 24, 1946 — February 22, 2020

Etta Vaughn Thrift, age 73, of Forest City, North Carolina, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills-Inpatient Unit in Forest City with her loved ones by her side.  The daughter of the late Lee C. Vaughn and Annie Mae Gettys Vaughn, she was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on August 24, 1946.

Having never met a stranger, Etta loved life in general, but she truly loved serving the Lord. Spending time with family meant the world to her.  When her health began to decline, Etta made her home with her daughter, Tonya.  She was a member of Vein Mountain Baptist Church in Glenwood.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her daughter, Tonya Pittman (Ronnie); four grandchildren, Jonathan Bailey (Katherine), Kristen Weathers (Blake), Lisa Brownfield (Craig) and Christopher Pittman; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Lane of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; three brothers, Buddy Vaughn (Hattie) of Campobello, South Carolina, Ernest Vaughn (Sharon) of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, and Bobby Vaughn (Brenda) of Marion, North Carolina.  Etta is also survived by a host of friends, whom she loved like family; and her special friend, Sue Lane.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Nealsville Church of God in Marion with Pastor Doug Carpenter and Pastor Barry Gouge officiating.  There will be a gathering of family and friends following the service at the church.
