Ernest Gnandt

Ernest Gnandt, age 89, of Union Mills, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his residence.  The son of the late Michael and Mary Braun Gnandt, Ernest was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 7, 1928. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Valerie Gnandt, who passed away in 2014.

For 45 years Ernest had been proudly attending AA meetings and eventually became a sponsor.  When he was not attending meetings or church, he enjoyed gardening, both with flowers and vegetables.  Ernest was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City. 

He is survived by one son, Ed Gnandt and his wife, Dawn L.; nine grandchildren, Tammy, Sandy, Michael, Christopher, E.J., Joseph Piccininni, Nicholas Piccininni, Heather Nickeshier and Ashley Perez; and ten great grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held and will be announced once the date, time and location has been confirmed.
