Eric M. Poteat

Eric M. Poteat, age 44, of Valdese, passed away at his residence on Monday, October 31, 2016.  The son of Robert and Judy Poteat of Valdese, he was born in Bradley County, Tennessee on July 14, 1972.

A loving father, son, husband and friend, Eric was an avid fisherman. He loved to build model boats; and in his spare time, enjoyed painting homes with his father. 

He is preceded in death by one stepson, Cody Gardner.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Sarah Poteat; one aunt, Nancy Holland; former wife, Wanda Norton; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Eric is also survived by many friends in and around McDowell and Burke Counties. 

There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date.
