Emma Lee McPeters Causby

Emma “Nana Emma” Lee McPeters Causby, 79, of Marion, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, April 28, 2023 at Mountain Ridge.

She was born in Yancey County on February 29, 1944 to the late Vilous and Ada Silvers McPeters. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Causby and a grandson, Dustin Loftis.

Emma loved her family immensely, and her great grandchildren were her world. She had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. Though she was a private and quiet woman, she was also very witty and fun. She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She was a member of Sunny Grove Baptist Church and a former member of Vein Mountain Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist for over 40 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Kim Causby Murray and Wendi Causby Cannon; son, Eric Causby (Wendy); grandchildren, Corey Loftis (Krissy), Betsy Cannon, Gage Cannon, Nathaniel Causby, and Andrew Causby (Christa); great grandchildren, Kai and Karsyn Loftis, Wylder and Sophie Cannon, and Nolan Causby; special sister, Naomi Causby; and brothers, Wilburn McPeters (Louise) and Vernon McPeters (Mary).

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastors Barry Gouge and Doug McPeters officiating. Burial will follow at Vein Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
