Elva Irene Boyd

Elva Young Boyd, age 81, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on the morning of Thursday, August 29, 2019 at CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville. She was born in McDowell County on July 20, 1938 to the late Claude Jennings Young and Vonnie Mae Biggerstaff Young. Along with her parents, she is proceeded in death by her loving husband Max Boyd.

Elva was a member of Coxes Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She was retired as a registered nurse from the McDowell Hospital where she served as operating room supervisor following many years of service. Elva was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her precious memories are one son David Boyd, of Marion; one daughter Elizabeth Brinkley and husband Sam of Marion; one step-son Bryan Hughes, of Newland; one sister Doris Hughes and husband Dean of Hickory; one brother Ron Young of Newton. Elva is also survived by three grandchildren, Jacob, Rebekah, and Jessie Boyd.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Reverends Junior Bailey and Jason Bright officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Snow Hill Cemetery.
