Ella Faye Long

Ella Faye Lawing Long, age 74, of Marion, North Carolina, while surrounded by her loved ones, departed to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at her residence, following a battle with cancer.  The daughter of the late Sam and Faye Lail Lawing, she was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on January 23, 1945. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Don Lawing; and one sister, Becky Davis. 

Known to have been a true and committed friend to many, Ella loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren; and her work family at Baxter Healthcare.  Although she battled multiple types of cancer, she had a special love for the Lord and would attend church even if she wasn’t feeling well.  Ella was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.  

She is survived by her four children, Mark Long, Aletha Duncan (Clay), Tonya Beam and Johnathan Long, all of Marion; two sisters, Judy Randall (Everett) of Marion and Edna Alexander (Bill), of Cartersville, Georgia; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and last but not least, her close friends, Betty English and Glenna McCracken.

A service to celebrate the life of Ella will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Walker, Dr. Don Lawing and Pastor Floyd Bailey officiating.  Interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
