Ella "Judy" Lovelace Bess, a beloved figure in her family and community, passed away on December 9, 2024, at Amorem Hospice in Valdese. She was born on April 6, 1946, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, and spent her life devoted to both her loved ones and her passions.
For over 30 years, Judy contributed her talents at Beverly Knits, where her dedication and work ethic were highly regarded. Beyond her professional commitments, Judy had a deep love for the Lord, a faith that served as a cornerstone in her life. She found joy in sewing and gardening, hobbies that reflected her creativity and nurturing spirit. A cherished member of her church community, Judy enjoyed singing with her sisters, sharing her voice in praise and worship.
Judy will be profoundly missed by her family, including her daughter, Tracy Bess Morgan, and her husband, Frank. She is survived by her siblings: Jimmy Lovelace and his wife Janet, Shirley Storie and her husband Clifton, and Ruby Dingus. The legacy of love she leaves behind includes her cherished grandchildren: Emmalyn, Trinity, Stormy, Daisy, Daniel, Christy, Libby, Madison, and Nick. Judy's family connections extended beyond her immediate relatives; she also held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephew: Kristin Hise and her husband Kris, Linda Wire and her husband Shad, Sandy Mullinax, James Lovelace and his wife Crystal, and Dennis Mullinax, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin Lovelace and Dorothy Mefcalf Lovelace; her former husband, Robert Bess; her daughter, Kelly Bess; her brother, Frank Goldsmith; and her niece, Lisa Mann, as well as her nephew, Jamie Mullinax.
The memory of Ella "Judy" Lovelace Bess will forever be a source of inspiration and love to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A funeral service for Judy will be held in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dennis Hensley and Rev. Kris Hise will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until to 2:00 at the funeral home.
