Elias “Oren” Hall, Jr., 92, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Marion, Oren was born January 13, 1931 to the late Elias Oren Hall, Sr. and Annie Estelle Hawkins Hall.
Oren was a welding teacher at McDowell High School for over twenty years. He also served faithfully in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and collecting antique guns. Oren was loved and liked by all who knew him and will be remembered with great fondness. He taught his children and grandchildren how to be a friend. Oren attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Violet Ann Hollifield Hall; and his sisters, Betty Mae Ellington and Joyce Hall McKinney.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Keith Hall (Gloria) and Gretta Jane Blythe (Harry); seven grandchildren, Natalie Blythe, Jennifer Rabon (Hal), Joseph Keith Hall, Jr., Ashley Hightower (Keith), Haley Linton (Bryan), Hunter Blythe (Alessandra), and Nora Willis; and fourteen great grandchildren, Violet and Jaxon Ward, Molly and Cutler Rabon, Joseph Keith Hall, III, Stella and Annie Hightower, Finn, Blythe, Evelyn, and Hazel Linton, and Adriana, Charlotte, and Virginia Blythe.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Turkey Cove Cemetery where Oren will be laid to rest beside the love of his life. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
