Eleanor Greer Burleson

Eleanor Greer Burleson, 79, of Nathalie, Virginia and formerly of Marion, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024 at her home. 

She was born in Ashe County on January 11, 1945 to the late Frank Greer and Docia Shelton Greer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Burleson; grandson, Johnny Michael Burleson; an infant granddaughter; three sisters, Freddie Greer, Shirley Burleson Robinson, and Lena Virginia Potter; and five brothers, Charles "Tommy" Greer, Raymond "Sweetie" Greer, Kenneth "Oss" Greer, Franklin "Doc" Greer and Roby "Buddy" Greer.

Mrs. Burleson had a green thumb. She enjoyed flowers and gardening as well as working with the boxwoods on the farm at her home. She was an avid BINGO player. Eleanor was a mother to many children over the years. She raised a community of children who all are grateful for her influence in their lives. More than anything, she loved the Lord.

She is survived by eight children, Johnny Burleson (Teresa), Nora Lee Pope (Mark Holland), Ricky Frank Burleson, Teresa Kay Noblitt, Sandra Revis, Tommy Burleson, Tony Burleson, Eleanor Revis, and Doug Revis; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five sisters, Thelma "Poodle" Brown, Marynell Johnson, Wanda "Doll girl" Roarke, Pauline McMahan and Joevelyn "Dolly" Cornett; and one brother, Howard "H" Greer.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with burial to follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
