Edward âFrankâ Mills, loving father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville following a brief illness. The son of the late Grady and Mary Lanning Mills, Frank was born in McDowell County on August 30, 1946.
He was preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, one sister, Rae Mills Gardin.
Frank retired from Collins & Aikman, but decided he wanted to stay busy and began working at the McDowell County Transfer Station on NC 226 South. Always putting others before himself, he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed watching hummingbirds. Frank was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his loving companion of many years, Linda Worley; three children, Cody Mills, Chris Worley (Celia) and Emily Ray; one brother, Hank Mills (Peggy); three sisters, Joanne Johnson, Betty Varner (Jim) and Judy Buff (David). Frank is also survived by two special grandsons, Landon Ray and Dawson Ray; one special granddaughter, Katherine Worley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Frankâs life will be held on Saturday, May 04, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor David Buff officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
