Eddie William Wise

September 24, 1958 — September 23, 2022

Bakersville, North Carolina

Eddie Wise, 63, of Cane Creek Community in Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Mission Hospital.

Eddie was born to Edd and Frances Wise on September 24, 1958 where he grew up in the Cane Creek Community, a place that even though he travelled to many places in the United States, he was always ready to come back to the place he called home. This is the place where Eddie and his loving wife, Cheryl, raised their family. He had two children. First of which was a baby girl named Stephanie, one whom captured his heart, and until his final breath loved her with all of his heart. Then, nearly two years later, God blessed them with a little boy named Chad, one who would always keep them on their toes. Then by the blessings of God he had two granddaughters, Shaylee and Arianna. In his later years they were truly the joy of his life. Certainly, both of which loved their Paw very much.

Both Stephanie and Chad were proud to call Eddie their Dad. His devoted wife, Cheryl, was equally as proud of Eddie and supported him unwaveringly all their years of marriage. It was amazing to hear their squabbling all the time, but to see the true love they had for each other. Eddie was called by one, a joyful soul, and that he certainly was. He never met a stranger and if you knew Eddie you knew how to laugh. He was always cutting up, a quality for which he was well known.

Eddie brought to life Proverbs 18:24 “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly.” He was loved by all and will be missed by all. The children would express their deepest appreciation to all who helped Eddie during his last 12 months of sickness. If you are reading this you know who you are, so we say thank you. A special thank you to his brother Mike for all. But most of all to our Mom who pushed everything aside to help Daddy “get better,” and her sacrifice will never be forgotten. Last of all and most importantly, we thank our Lord Jesus Christ for dying on the Old Rugged Cross and raising triumphantly three days later. It’s because of his salvation and Eddie’s faith in Him that assures us that he is absent from the body and present with the Lord. Through Christ we have assured hope we will be with this dear husband, dad, and friend again to be together for all eternity.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cheryl Poteat Wise; two children, Stephanie Buchanan (Aaron) and Rev. Chad Wise (Angela); two grandchildren, Shaylee Miller (Cody) and Arianna Wise; and four siblings, Mike Wise (Darlene), Danny Wise (Janet), Carolyn Redden (Tommy), and Donna Wyatt (Roger).

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Crabtree Baptist Church with his son, Rev. Chad Wise, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service. Burial will be on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Buchanan Wise Family Cemetery.
