Edd Davis, age 83, of Nebo, North Carolina, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Amorem Hospice House in Valdese. A native of Mitchell County, North Carolina, born May 6, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Bertha McKinney Davis.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Edd Davis; one grandson, Kristopher Barbour; one sister, Nettie Rhom; and four brothers, Fred, Wiley, Frank, and Willie Davis.

 

Edd was a faithful member of Mountain View #1 Baptist Church in Burke County. Following many years, he retired as an insurance agent with Western & Southern Insurance Company. Edd was an avid hunter and a great husband, father, and grandfather.

 

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 37 years, Margaret “Margie” Lovins Davis; four children, Philip Davis, Amanda Davis Preece, Timothy Eugene Davis, and Joyce Davis; two sisters, Mellisa Howell and Ruby Gallion. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Samantha Wiggins, Miranda Davis, Angela Chapman, and Joshua Preece; great granddaughter, Chloe Wiggins; one great grandson on the way; and his canine companion and riding buddy, Gracie.

 

The family will hold a celebration of Edd’s life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Carr officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Amorem Hospice.
