Earnest Lee "Pedro" Chambers, Jr, age 75, of Marion, North Carolina went to be with the Lord Monday, April 23, 2018 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Chambers was born April 22, 1943 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Earnest Lee “Red” Chambers, Sr. and Ida Jeter Chambers Huff. He retired as a brick mason from Brewer Construction and was known as one of the best brick mason’s in McDowell County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching baseball and football. He also liked to play cards and was a big fan of his children as they participated in sports. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. During Mr. Chambers’ high school years, he was a great basketball player!
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary Logan Chambers and two brothers, John Earl Chambers of Charlotte, NC and Joe Lewis Chambers, Sr. of SC.
Left behind to cherish Mr. Chambers’ memories are five children, Lucile Chambers Lewis of Marion, NC, Billy Joe Chambers of Marion, NC, Ida Chambers of Mooresville, NC (Lake Norman), NC, John Chambers of Marion, NC and Dean Albert Chambers of Mooresville, NC; one step-son, Robert Logan and wife, Sonia of Pittsboro, NC; five siblings, Mary Ann Phillips, Sarah J. McAlilley, Joyce Williams, Levi Chambers and wife, Dorothy and Edward Chambers and wife, Judy all of Charlotte, NC; one aunt, Letha Williamson of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren, Ashley Chambers Davis and husband, Renaldo, Brittany Elizabeth Chambers, Melvin Jerome Gill, II, Ernest Nathaniel Gill, Emily Chambers Jones, Jordan Lee Valini, Peyton Brooke Chambers, Sterling Leigh Logan and Waverly Symone Logan; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving Mr. Chambers are his best friends, Warren Ed Carson and Charlie Means and many other friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Addie’s Chapel United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Walter Pegues officiating. Interment will follow the service at McDowell Cemetery.
