Earl "Dean" Moody

Earl “Dean” Moody, 87, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

A native of McDowell County, Dean was born December 24, 1935 to the late Gilmer Moody and Myrtle Lee Hollifield Moody.

Dean was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church where he was saved many years ago. He retired from Great Lakes Carbon. Dean enjoyed restoring old cars and woodworking. He took great pride in working in his yard. Most of all, Dean loved his family. Spending time with them and his friends brought him the most joy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Hoyle Moody and Doris Head; a granddaughter, Tabatha Toney; and a son-in-law, Mark Nanney.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Lou Roland Moody; four daughters, Belinda Foster (Chris), Bernice Toney, Kim Rhoads (Steven), and Donna Nanney; five grandchildren, Krista Stoot (Chris) and their children, John, Issiah, Genevieve, and Matthias Stoot, Jerrica Pritchard (Kevin), Christopher Nanney, Jeremiah Toney (Natasha), and Deanna Toney.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Beam Funeral Service from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
