Douglas Stroud

Douglas Stroud, age 72, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away on the morning of Monday, April 17, 2017 at his residence.  A native and lifelong resident of McDowell County, born June 02, 1944, he was the son of the late Geroid Frank Stroud and Willie Ballard Stroud.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Douglas, who was self-employed, enjoyed building pallets with his wife, Carolyn.  He loved to spend time farming, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn Mace Stroud of the home; four daughters, Jeanette Stroud of Nebo, Janie Carver and husband Alan of Marion, Sabrina Davis of Nebo; and Angie Tollison and husband, Daniel of Jefferson, North Carolina; two sons, Doug Stroud, Jr. and wife, Kelly of Nebo; and Jimmy Stroud of Nebo; one brother, Joe Stroud and wife, Nettie of Marion; and one sister, Ann Bartlett of Marion.  Doug is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Chaplain Richard Anderson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Stroud Cemetery off of Gaddy Road in Nebo.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
