Dorothy Early

Dorothy Sims Early, age 86, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Autumn Care of Marion. A native of Rutherford County, Dorothy was born on May 22, 1932 to the late Sidney and Ava Mae Guffey Sims.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Donald Early, eight brothers and three sisters.

A dedicated member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, of fifty-one years, Dorothy devoted her life in service of family, church and the Lord Jesus Christ. After retiring from Baxter’s following twenty-five years she spent her time working in her flower gardens, praising the Lord through song and laughter, and cherishing time spent caring for and loving her family.

Dorothy is survived by three children, Dale Early (Libby), Donna Morris, and Denise Smith (Jim); four grandchildren, Israel Aaron Vance, Jordan Vance (Marissa), Mandy Gilleland (Thomas) and Erica Morris; two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Max. Also surviving Dorothy are one sister, Rena Mae Auten.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bud Sheets officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
