Doris Mae Horne

Doris Beasley Horne, 82, of  Mount Holly, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 10, 1942, in Dunn North Carolina to the late Charles and Eva Beasley, Doris lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion to those around her. She attended Lowell Church of God and retired from A&E after many years of hard work and commitment. Doris had a servant’s heart — always opening her home to family, offering support when needed, and being the go-to person for rides, care, and comfort, especially to her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her children: Lisa Wilson, Dixie Mitchell (Curtis), and Scott Horne (Cathy); 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Janice; brothers Charles and Bill; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, including Sherry, who faithfully came to check on her; and her dear aunt Berniece, with whom she shared a close bond.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Steven Horne; her husband, James “Sonny” Horne; her sister Sylvia; brother Larry; her parents; and her son-in-law, Rick (Lisa). Doris will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her selfless heart, and her constant presence in the lives of those she loved.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Lowell Church of God, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Joe Heffner. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. All who knew and loved Doris are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
