Dorgan Carl Ledbetter, Jr.

     Dorgan “Crazy Carl” Ledbetter, Jr., 54, of Marion, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at his residence.

     Carl was born in McDowell County, NC, on July 27, 1969, to the late Dorgan Carl Ledbetter, Sr. and Mary Alice Ledford. He was formerly employed by the city of Marion for more than fifteen years and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. Carl was known as a generous and giving person, who loved his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. 

     In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Marie Ledbetter. 

     He is survived by three children, Michael Ledbetter (Tim), Miranda Ledbetter (Dustin), and Mitchell Ledbetter; two sisters, Kimberly Webb (Billy) and Arla Kirby (Donald); two grandchildren, Caroline Rose Broom and Lakota Broom; two nephews, Curtis Webb and Jacob Morton; two nieces, Kasey Webb (Brian) and Tabitha Morton (Alex); and numerous other family members and friends.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Danny White will officiate and Mr. Jacob Morton will assist. Burial will follow at Hicks Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
