Dora B. Nichols, age 95, of Marion, North Carolina passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 18, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and is now resting in the arms of her Jesus. A native of McDowell County, Dora was born January 19, 1923 to the late Robert and Jessie King Nichols.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Hoyt Nichols, Bobby Nichols and Michael Nichols; her sisters, Naomi Wright, Laura Elliott, Frances O’Dear and Anna Woody.
Dora was a charter member of Faith Tabernacle Church and retired from Cross Cotton Mill following forty-three years of service. She enjoyed gardening, but mostly loved working in her flower garden. In addition to her family she loved her Savior Jesus and her two dogs, Cricket and Matty.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Joyce Davis (Harold) of Marion, N.C.; granddaughters, Rebecca Ellison (David) of Chesapeake, VA, Donna Leonard (Mike) of Senoia, GA, Vandalyn Rose (Brian) of Hildebran, N.C. and Maria Dirhold (Steve Silver) of Marion, N.C. and Morristown, TN.
Great grandsons, Jonathan Leonard (Melissa), Philip Leonard (Amanda) and Landon Dirhold; great granddaughters, Lori Ellison, Sarah Ellison Green (Daniel), Emily Bartlett (Chris), Caitlin Holbert (Ethan), special great granddaughter, Hannah Mitchell; eleven great great grandchildren, Kaleb, Chandler, Makayla and Grant Ellison; Ava, Alli and Roland Leonard; Jaxson, Jensen and Adalie Bartlett, and one unborn baby boy Holbert. Dora is also survived by one sister, Margie Holmes of Lumberton, N.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Dora’s life will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Church with Mr. Michael Leonard, Reverend Harold Davis and Mr. David Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
