Donald Lee Woody

Donald Lee Woody, age 77, of Marion, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Donald was born in McDowell County on July 12, 1940 to the late Nathan Woody and Edna Woody Bradley.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll and James Woody and two sisters, Reeva Mehailescu and Virginia Woody.      

Donald was a member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired United States Navy veteran serving twenty-three years active duty. After retirement he was employed with Tilson Machine Shop. Donald loved to fish and spend time with his family especially his grandchildren.   

Donald his survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years Sadie Woody; three children, Donna Lynn Hollifield (Ricky), Pam Brooks (Tony) and Allan Woody (Maggie). Also surviving Donald are four grandchildren, Jessica Hollifield, Ben Brooks (Maile), Amanda Gasche (Jay) and Alex Woody; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate his homegoing will take place on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Alan Sailors officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at the Western Carolina Veterans State Cemetery in Black Mountain on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with full military honors provided by the United States Navy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Donald’s memory to Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church, 6995 Harmony Grove Road, Nebo, North Carolina 28761.
