Donald Arvey Washburn

Donald Arvey Washburn of Marion, North Carolina passed away at his residence on Friday, July 29, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born in McDowell Co. on October 12, 1937 to the late Arvey Leonard Washburn and the late Maggie Mae King Washburn. He was a member of Coxes Creek FWB Church and was known as a hardworking man who never met a stranger. Donald enjoyed working with his tractor and farming. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Including his parents Donald is preceded in death by three siblings; Betty McGhee, Ruth Edwards and Leonard Ray Washburn.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Katera “Katy” Washburn; three children, Tracy Spencer Washburn (Teresa), Curtis Washburn (Cindy) and Virginia “Missy” Romine (Jerry); three sisters, Jackie Rief, Irene McKinney and Joyce Self; three brothers, Johnny Washburn, Jim Washburn and Bill Washburn; two grandchildren, Jennifer Edwards (Jacob) and Amanda Washburn along with two great grandchildren, Madilyn Edwards and Elijah Edwards.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Coxes Creek FWB Church with the Rev. Josh Miller and Rev. Trent McKeehan. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at the church. Interment will follow at Murphy’s Chapel.
