Donald Wayne Reece

Donald Wayne Reece, age 85, of Nebo, North Carolina and formerly of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2022 in Marshall, Texas in the care of his two daughters.

He was born on September 21, 1937 to Nettie and Louis Reece of Iowa where he met his wife Vivian Joyce Jairl, and they moved to North Carolina where they raised five children. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce, and two sons, Joseph "JoJo" and Louis "Herbie" Reece.

He is survived by his three children, Deborah King of Nebo, NC, Vicky Martinez (husband Marcos) of Marshall, TX, and Scott Reece (wife Geneva) of Glenwood, NC; and daughter-in-law, Priscilla Reece of Canton, NC. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Donald, better known as Donnie or Shorty by his family and friends, worked in manufacturing the biggest part of his life. After devoting 22 years, he retired from Collins and Aikman in Old Fort, NC where he then could focus on his true passions: gardening, fishing, watching Sunday football, and reading his Bible. He loved the Lord with all of his heart. His Bible stayed right next to his chair so he could pick it up at any given time. He read his Bible every day. He was a wonderful, sweet father, a humble grandfather, and a loving husband. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. If you ever met him, he left an everlasting impression and a warm feeling in your heart. What brought him the most joy was gathering for the holidays and creating new memories. He will definitely be missed by all.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Jimmy Queen officiating. Burial will follow at Muddy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
