Donald Clarence McClure, 79, of Marion, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 26, 2025 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
He was born July 27, 1945, in Gaston County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Marie Kimsey McClure and Festus (Pet) Dee McClure, and two beloved sisters, Linda McClure Shelton and Barbara McClure Morgan.
Donald is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon Hendley McClure; his two children, Kristi McClure Lawing (and her husband Fate) and Kyle McClure (and his wife Sally); and his five grandchildren: Levi Lawing, Rebecca Lawing, Silas McClure, Millie McClure, and Max McClure. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Frank Morgan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Donald’s caregiver, April Lowley, as well as the in-home and inpatient staff of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for their compassionate care and support during this time.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Beam Celebration Center with Rev. Michael Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Sugar Hill Baptist Church, 657 Mudcut Road, Marion, NC 28752 or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
