Donald Dean Freeman, 75, of Black Mountain, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at his home.
Donald was born in Mitchell County, on December 17, 1947 to the late Georgia Freeman. He is also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Freeman; a brother Charles Huskins; and a sister Hazel Rose Stroud.
Donald was in the Navy where he served on the USS Forrestal and the USS Kennedy. He owned and operated Tarheel Industrial Machine Inc. and Fabrication and ran McDowell Recycling and NC Mountain Water. He loved sports and fishing. He also enjoyed Corvettes and working on Juke Boxes.
Donald is survived by his wife of forty-four years Jeannie Freeman; two sons, Dean Freeman and his wife Lee Ann and Chad Freeman; a daughter, Brandy Freeman and fiancé Sergio; a stepson, Jamie Robinson; and four grandchildren, Zachary Freeman (Sarah), Brett Freeman, Bryce Freeman and Chloe Robinson.
A funeral service will be held at Beam Funeral Service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Muddy Creek Cemetery.
