Donald "Danny" Kendrick, Jr.

Donald “Danny” Kendrick, Jr., age 68, while surrounded by his loved ones, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at his residence in Marion, North Carolina.  A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Danny was born July 27, 1949 and was the son of the late Donald and Elenore Harkins Grider. 

Having retired as a Petty Officer Third Class with the United States Navy, Danny was an animal welfare advocate and would help raise money to assist in helping rescue animals and was an Animal Cruelty Investigator while living in Birmingham. He attended Cornerstone Church of God in Marion. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Kendrick; one daughter, Sharon Cook; one son, Daniel Kendrick; three step children, Joey Liston (June), Sheri Atkins (Richie) and Keith Liston (Rose); two sisters, Angela Ellis (Keith) and Kim McClain; nine grandchildren, Jasmine Ramos, Heath Short, Cheneil Bailey, Jade Hawkins, Victoria Atkins, Jonathan Atkins, Brooke Mims, Joseph Liston and Joshua Liston.  Danny is also survived by six great grandchildren, Cole Dale, Colby Bailey, Caydence Bailey, Katlyn Mims, Emily Mims, Benjamin Mims and one on the way. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Pastor Keith Ellis and Pastor Tyler Nations officiating.  Interment, with military honors provided by the United States Navy, will follow at Nealsville Church of God Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
