Dewey Dean Hughes

Dewey Dean Hughes of Old Fort, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Pelican Health Care.

Dewey was born in McDowell County on November 28, 1935 to the late William Hughes and the late Della Estap Hughes. He was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and trustee of the church. Dewey was known as a hardworking man. He worked as a carpenter in addition to his regular jobs.

Those left to treasure his memory are his wife Thelma Parker Hughes; four children, Frank Hughes (Joan) of Old Fort, Nancy Thompson of  Florida, Michael Hughes (Linda) of Washington DC, and Mark Hughes of Old Fort; a brother, Jim Hughes of Florida.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
