On the morning of Sunday, April 09, 2017, Deward Dellinger, passed away at his residence just days before his 77th birthday surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mitchell County, North Carolina on April 13, 1940, he was the son of the late Fred and Doris Slagle Dellinger.
A member of Rebels Creek Baptist Church, Deward, who loved working with his hands as a carpenter and known as a jack of all trades, formally worked with United Parcel Service (UPS) and had travelled to several states. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his three children, Patrick Dellinger, Josh Dellinger and wife, Brittany; and Amanda Pipes and husband, Wesley; one sister, Roslie Street and husband, Larry; six grandchildren, Jacob Dellinger, Jovianna Dellinger, Camron Pipes, Judah Dellinger, Emberlyn Dellinger and Arrow Dellinger; and one grandchild on the way.
A celebration of Deward’s life will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Rebels Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville with Rev. Josh Dellinger, Rev. Skip Weiford and Rev. Shane Cassida officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
