Dennis Ellis

Dennis Ellis, while surrounded by his loving family and friends, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his residence in Marion at the age of 70.  A native of Mitchell County, North Carolina, born December 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Sam and Daphne Ellis. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosa Lee Ellis, who passed away November 19, 2014; and one daughter, Kim Perkins.  Dennis’s “Pappi Dog”, also passed away on Tuesday following several months of declining health. 

A wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend, Dennis took great pride in spending time, especially going on vacation, with his family and friends.  For over 45 years he enjoyed wood working and making furniture.  Dennis loved working in his yard along with his wife, Rosa, where they had beautiful gardens and flowers.  Beloved by all that knew him, he was never known to have complained and had spirit in everything he touched.  

He is survived by his two children, Scott Ellis (Melanie) and Daphne Jones (Perry); five siblings, Rick Ellis (Gail), Brenda Ollis (Tony), Linda Womick (Sherrill), Rebecca Watkins (Steve) and Jack Ellis (Gail); five grandchildren, Savannah Perkins, Kaley Ellis, Peyton Jones, Parker Jones and Judah Jones; one son-in-law, Tom Perkins; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Perry Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
