Delores Ann Lavender Morgan

Delores Ann Lavender Morgan, 87, of Marion, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at her residence. 

She was born in McDowell County on June 1, 1937 to the late Grady Ranz Lavender and Ruby Cleo Morgan Lavender.

Delores worked in textiles her whole life and retired from Galey and Lord following over 40 years of dedicated service. She was a talented seamstress as well and enjoyed making clothes and beautiful cross stitch patterns. Delores will also be remembered for her delicious chocolate pound cake. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who always held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Morgan; son, Cameron Morgan; brother, Randy Lavender; and great grandson, Jasper Lawing.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Lawing (David); six grandchildren, Jimmie Griffith (Zack), Jacob Lawing, Misty Garcia (Alan), Brandi Hawkins (Rusty), Jessi Morgan, and Jada Greer (David); seven great grandchildren, Emily Denton, Isaiah Denton, Jayden Morgan, Skyler Palmer, Aubrey Palmer, Juniper Lawing, and Jayleigh Greer; two sisters, Susie Church and Louise Trantham; one brother, Danny Lavender (Judy); and sisters-in-law, Mavis Lavender, Bonnie Smith, and Lois Buchanan.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with her daughter, Anita Lawing, speaking. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
