Della Hooper McKesson

Della Marie Hooper McKesson, age 64 of Marion, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Mission Hospital of Asheville.

 Della was born February 18, 1958 to the late Arthur Leroy Hooper and the late Julia Irene Moore Hooper. She was an active member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where she served on various committees at the church. Della loved to travel, loved baking, and especially love spending time with her family. She also enjoyed babysitting her great niece, Eva Loftis.

Along with her parents, Della is preceded in death by three brothers, William Douglas Moore, Benny Ray Moore and James Michael Hooper.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Bethanie McKesson King of Charlotte; two sisters, Margaret Peterson of Asheville, Roberta Long (William) of Glen Alpine; three brothers, Arthur Hooper (Virginia), Robert Hooper (Detra), and Walter Hooper, all of Marion; paternal aunts, Cora Lee Forney (Ralph) of Florida, and Emma Kate Hooper of  Marion; one maternal aunt, Joyce Ann Pertiller of Black Mtn., along with a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Marion on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Mt. Moriah Ministers officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 at the church. Interment will follow at the McDowell Cemetery in Marion.
