Debra Smith

Debra Ann Tranthem Smith, 59, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at her residence.

She was born in McDowell County on April 27, 1962 to the late Daisy Welborn and her late stepfather, Ralph Welborn.

Debbie was a great cook who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. They were truly her world, especially Ayden who she raised.

She is survived by her two sons, Shane Tranthem (Meg) and Jeffrey Todd Daves; eight grandchildren, Callie Capri Tranthem, William Lewis Tranthem, Benjamin Reid Tranthem, Jacob Sawyer Tranthem, Ayden Lee Daves, Ransom Zeric Brown, Emma Rain Brown, and Dawson Smith; her brother, Wayne Nelon (Wendy Anderson); a nephew, Thomas Anderson; a niece, Olivia Conner (Branson); two great nephews, Presley and Stetson Conner; an aunt, Lib Roland; and her special canine companion, Jacie.

A private service for the immediate family only will be held on Monday, May 09, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
