Debbie "Deb" Jack Silver

April 21, 1954 — June 4, 2017

Debbie Carr Jack Silver, age 63, of Nebo, passed away on Sunday, June 04, 2017 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Hudson, Michigan on April 21, 1954, she was the daughter of Donald Carr and Eva Lee Krathwohl.

A graduate of McDowell Technical Community College Nursing program, Deb, for 15 years, had worked with McDowell EMS and was the first female assistant coroner in McDowell County.  She had worked at the McDowell County Sheriff’s Department where she held multiple positions, first female jailer, was a dispatcher and a deputy during Sheriff Bobby R. Haynes administration.  Deb had also volunteered with the Dysartsville Fire Department in the 80’s.  In her later years, she worked at McDowell Nursing and Mountain Ridge Wellness in Black Mountain.

Deb enjoyed watching and listening to thunderstorms, black bears, road trips and singing “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights” with her sisters. She took great pride in getting the family together for Christmas and bragging about her children and grandchildren, telling jokes, boasting about her “burps” and teaching her grandchildren to pull her finger.  Deb was known to prank you and make you laugh so hard you “would have tears running down your legs”, but most of all, she will be remembered for giving you the shirt off her back.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Ron and Tim Carr; and a stepfather, Basil Krathwohl.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 29 years, David Silver; four children, Bobby Jack (Michelle), Kelly Silver (Ronnie), Mary Jo Silver and Jayda Twitty (Titus); seven siblings, Dan Carr (Deb), Midge Dunn (Mike), Linda Mills (Chris), Steve Carr, John Carr (Trish), Jeff Carr (Lisa) and Jim Carr (Patti).  She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Cory, Benji, Naomi and Lexi Jack, Myra and T.J. Twitty, Ciara York, Rashawn Lynch and Jayden and Cimya Silver.
