Dawn Linson Vetter
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Dawn Linson Vetter went home to be with her Heavenly Father on 7-12-2021.
Dawn wore many hats but her favorites were Wife, Mother, Grandma and Miss Dawn. She served McDowell County schools for 22 years as the McSmiles Preschool Teacher. She taught preschoolers readiness skills for kindergarten. She deeply loved each and every student as well as their parents. Dawn was vibrant and upbeat. She never met a stranger and could start up a conversation with anyone. She had the ability to find the good in every person. She loved to make cards for friends and family to spread her happiness to them. But what made Dawn's life so special and impactful was the order in which she lived it, Jesus, others, then self.
She will be missed by those who loved her the most, her family. Her husband, Joseph Vetter, her four children Abby, Joe, Karl and Kristin, her seven grandchildren Mia, Landon, Rhyland, Kingston, Braxton, Khyler, and Remedy Rose, her two brothers John and Jeff Linson and their spouses and children.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Story Memorial Presbyterian Church on July 31st from 12-2pm receiving of friends and 2-3pm will be the Service. Additional celebration of life ceremonies will be held at Brown Mountain Bottleworks on July 25th from 5-7 pm and The Marion Moose Lodge on August 8th from 4-6pm.
In lieu of flowers please donate to McDowell Mission Ministries or The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Dawn was my neighbor and childhood friend. As adults, although our lives took us in very different directions and places, we never lost contact. If asked who is the friend, outside of family, that I have known the longest, it was Dawn. My deepest condolences to her family, and to the friends who loved her.

Oh how I loved and appreciated Dawn as my friend at the Moose Lodge. So many fun afternoons floating together and catching up on our families. She was a true light, an amazing person and friend, always putting others first. Always fun to be with, her laugh was so refreshing! She was one of the most positive, friendly, kind and compassionate people I have ever known. I'll never understand how she stayed so positive through all those cancer treatments. She trusted God and just chose to love everyone no matter what. I miss her so much even though
I only had the pleasure of knowing her for 5 years. What a blessing, thank you God for allowing me to know her. I will keep her family in my prayers. Love, Nan Duffey

One of my best friends in college. Dawn was such a bright spot in our lives -always with a big smile and cheery spirit. My heart is heavy knowing she suffered so. Heaven has just received an angel.

I knew her in college at TKC. Please know that she enjoyed much love from her fellow students and faculty at The King's College. Your family is in the prayers of many alumni from her time there, and beyond.
