David “Ray” Silver, 77, of Marion, NC, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Charles F. George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Ray was born in Spruce Pine, NC on April 27, 1947, to the late David Hamilton Silver and Nora Marie Briggs Silver. He was married to his wife of 46 years, Paula Robbin Taylor Silver. Ray served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of West Court Baptist Church in Marion, where he served for many years as a Sunday school teacher and usher. Ray loved woodworking and trout fishing, but most of all, he loved the Lord and his family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Kaye Proctor.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Robbin Silver; two children, Amy Silver Helton and Brandon Ray Silver (Becky); two brothers, Joseph Silver (Beth) and Mike Silver (Betty); and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Parker (Ethan) and Gabrielle Conner (Dillon).
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at West Court Baptist Church. Pastor Jeff Burchette will officiate and Rev. Dr. Tom Walker will assist. Burial will follow at West Court Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.
