In the early morning hours of Thursday, August 12, 2021, Darlene Kelly Parker went home to be with the Lord with her family by her side. A native of McDowell County, Darlene was born on June 20, 1928 to the late Claude and Mary Morris Kelly.
She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Roscoe Parker, Sr., her children, Roscoe Parker, Jr., Gwendolyn Parker, Jerry Dean Parker and Joyce Parker.
Darlene was a member of Salem Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed planting flowers, watching the birds, especially hummingbirds. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog “Coco”.
Left to cherish her memories are four children, Steve Parker (Gail), Ronnie Parker (Paula), Robin Batts and Earl Parker (Mary). Darlene is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Free Will Baptist Church with Reverends Jerry McClain and Vincent White. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Davistown Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
