Darlene Bowen

Darlene Medford Bowen, age 64, of the Dysartsville community passed away peacefully at the SECU Hospice of Rutherford County on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was born on August 19, 1952 to the late Carl and Hazel Arrowood Medford.

Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bowen, Sr.; two daughters, Twonia Duncan and Darla Bowen; and a brother Dennis Medford.

Darlene who always enjoyed her home Bible study, was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. She formally managed Colonel’s Pantry Store on Rutherford Road.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Andy Bowen (Christal); two brothers, Tommy Medford (Amy) and Terry Medford (Paula); one sister, Joann Ray (Jim). Also surviving Darlene are her three grandchildren, Dylan Bowen (Victoria), Trey Bowen and McKenzie Duncan and one great-grandchild on the way.

A funeral service to honor Darlene’s life will take place at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverends Jim Brewer and Dennis Love officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will take place at Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery.
