On the evening of Sunday, December 8, 2024, Danny Lee Scott, 64, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the way to church.
He was born in Buncombe County on January 9, 1960 and was raised in Burnsville. He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Scott.
He was a dedicated mechanic who shared his skills and passion with the community for 35 years through his beloved business, Danny's VW's. Completely self-taught, Danny’s yearn to never stop learning and patience for sharing all his knowledge with others created a reputation for excellence, earning the admiration and respect of countless friends who quickly became like family to him.
Throughout his life, Danny exemplified what it meant to be dedicated and hardworking. He was known for his tireless efforts and commitment to his craft, earning the distinction as the best at everything he pursued. His incredible work ethic was matched only by his vibrant personality; he was a jokester at heart, known for always having a smile on his face and bringing joy to those around him.
Danny cherished the outdoors and often enjoyed hiking and embarking on dune buggy adventures with friends. His enthusiasm for racing, particularly at dirt tracks, provided him with lasting memories from his early years at Antioch. He also relished the thrill of mudslinging in a rail buggy, embracing every moment that life offered him.
More than anything, Danny loved the Lord and put Him first in all things. He was a faithful member of Nowlings Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He placed great importance on serving the Lord and never allowed his work or anything else keep him from attending church services. He will be remembered for his frequent prayer and daily Bible reading.
He is survived by his mother, Anna Jean Deyton Scott; his wife of 42 years, Kay McPeters Scott; two children, Kala Mashburn (Michael) and Kasey Scott (Lisa); five grandchildren, Kassie Garnhum, Kayden Garnhum, Allan Fink, Emili Warren, and Marcus Scott; and three siblings, Patricia Edwards (Adam), Ray Scott, and Steve Scott. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as his beloved VW family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Nowlings Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Darvy Hensley and Pastor Ronnie Peterson officiating.
Burial will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Patterson Branch Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Burnsville.
