Daisy Bell Welborn

Daisy Bell Roland Welborn, age 77, of Nebo, North Carolina passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her residence with her loving family at her side.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born August 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Nellie Lamb Roland. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Welborn, who passed away February 1, 2008.

A wonderful mother, grandmother, and amazing cook, Daisy always felt that it was God’s calling to take care of others, therefore she proudly was her sister Lib’s caregiver. A member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, Daisy formerly worked at Carolina Shoe Company.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her daughter, Debra Smith; son, M. Wayne Nelon, Jr. and his wife, Wendy; one sister, Elizabeth “Lib” Roland; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved family members, Donald and Barbara Roland.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Stockton and Rev. Harold Webb officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
