Daisy Lanning

Daisy Augusta Martin Lanning, age 94, of Marion, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at her home. 

Daisy was born October 8, 1924 in McDowell County, NC to the late Robert and Gernisha Bradburn Martin.  She married Paul Lanning in 1944 and moved to Washington State while Paul served in the Army. She later spent most of her life in Marion, North Carolina but also lived in Florida. Daisy had an amazing faith and trust in God. She attended church at Cross Mill and Clinchfield Baptist Churches. Her love and faith were apparent to everyone she touched. She loved to talk and tell stories and strangers immediately became friends and friends were always family. She worked throughout her life at Publix Supermarkets in Florida and Baxter Healthcare in North Carolina, but her main passion was always art. She loved to paint and spent many hours creating beautiful pictures, left behind for her family to treasure.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Lanning and her sister, Bobbie Rector.

Those left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Elaine Lanning Tassin; two grandchildren, Keith Tassin and wife, Cindy and Meredith Johnson and husband, Sammy; two great grandchildren, Megan and Jeremiah; and three great great grandchildren, Victor, Oliver and Evelyn.

Family was so important to Daisy. She had a large extended family which included cousins, nieces, nephews and friends she considered family and loved them all so much.

While her family is saddened by her passing, her illnesses had robbed her of her sight and her ability to walk. We rejoice and have peace knowing that she can see again and she can walk again. She is free of pain and able to do all the things she loves.

In keeping with Mrs. Lanning’s wishes no services will be held at this time.
