Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Brown Elliott

February 3, 1958 — March 28, 2024

Marion, NC

On the morning of March 28, 2024, Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Brown Elliott, age 66, lost her courageous battle
with cancer. Cindy was born on February 3, 1958, and was one of seven children born to Fred and Anne
Brown of Marion, North Carolina, who predecease her. Living all of her life in Marion, North Carolina,
Cindy attended McDowell County Schools where she graduated from McDowell High School in 1976.
She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis James Elliott, and they were blessed with two sons,
Dennis James Elliott, Jr., and John Carlton Elliott.
Cindy was an ambitious, loyal, and responsible employee. She worked many years as an orthodontic
assistant for Dr. Christopher Nevant, DDS, in Marion, North Carolina, and ended her formal term of
employment as a reading tutor with McDowell County Schools. She loved working with elementary
students at West Marion Elementary School and was a gifted instructor. She was kind, compassionate
and encouraging. Her students loved her and were grateful for her patient and gentile demeanor.
Some of Cindy’s happiest times were vacationing and spending time with her family. She loved to travel
and enjoyed spending time at the beach with her husband. Having been married for almost 50 years,
they treasured quiet and peaceful times and simply enjoyed being together. Exemplary of a true
servant’s heart, Cindy was always cooking, baking and sharing her culinary skills with family and friends.
Her children and their families brought Cindy such joy. She was so proud of her sons and was an
inspiration to them as a loving and supportive parent. She adored her grandchildren, Ava and Mason.
Taking fun day trips in the summer and visiting farms, zoos, and spending precious time with them was
her idea of a perfect day. Cindy never missed an opportunity to share the love of God with them.
Cindy faithfully attended and was a member of West Court Baptist Church, of Marion, North Carolina.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young child and was pleased to have the opportunity to
serve Him in many positions at her church. Among the ways she served included teaching Sunday
School, WMU leader, Vacation Bible School Director, and she sang beautifully with “The Girls” from the
church on many different occasions… considering it an honor and privilege when asked to do so. Cindy’s
love for the Lord and the family of God was the cornerstone of her faith. She rose early each day to read
her Bible and shared the wisdom of God’s word whenever and wherever she could. In these last few
years, Cindy was an amazing encouragement as she prayed for God’s timing, God’s will, and God’s way
in every day as she faced cancer… Always ending every conversation with God is Good… on the
mountain and in the valley.
Such a natural beauty, Cindy’s smile could light up a room. Cindy was a godly woman and an incredibly
strong lady. She has left a legacy of God’s amazing love and grace. Left to treasure their life together is
her loving husband, Dennis James Elliott, son, Dennis James Elliott, Jr. and daughter Ava, son, John
Carlton Elliott,(Meredith) and grandson, Mason. Siblings, Nancy Brown Suttles, (Max), Linda Brown
Robinson,(Jimmy), Debbie Brown Boone, (David), Tom Brown(Paige), Robert Earl Brown, and Rick
Brown(Misty). A host of other family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will
cherish and miss Cindy and the love she showed them during this life.
