Cora Lee Edwards Barnwell

Cora Lee Edwards Barnwell, 60, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville.

She was born in Durham, North Carolina on May 08, 1961 to Bessie Williams Edwards and the late Tom Dale Edwards. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Roy Edwards; and a sister, Emmie May Edwards.

Cora had a love for all animals, but her cats were extra special to her. She enjoyed cutting up and fishing as well. Cora loved her family, especially her grandkids, more than anything.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, David Lee Barnwell; two children, Tina Barnwell and Tommy Barnwell; five grandchildren, Daniel Maynor, Dylan Maynor, Devon Maynor, Carleigh Barnwell, and Tommy Barnwell, Jr.; and two siblings, Rose Ellen Tritten and James Edwards.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 04, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Michael Lane officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
