     Claude Lee Webb, 90, of Nebo, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at his residence, after of period of declining health.

 

     Claude was born in McDowell County, NC on December 27, 1933, to the late William James Webb and Nellie Mae Willis Webb. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Claude was married to the late Margaret Sexton Webb, who passed away on September 4, 2011. He was a history buff and a lover of nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching ball games, and playing baseball. He loved country music and was a talented guitar player. He was very proud that he went to school for 12 years and never missed a day. Claude will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

 

     In addition to his wife and parents, Claude was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Arrowood, Clara Gardner, and Faye Owensby; and two step sons, John Michael Whiteley and William Thomas “Bill” Whiteley.

 

     Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Claudia Webb Rumfelt (Joel); two step daughters, Lynn Whiteley Steppe (Rev. Philip) and Patti Whiteley Briggs (Danny); a sister, Ruth Willis; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. 

 

     The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Beam Funeral Service. Inurnment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. Rev. Philip Steppe will officiate services. 

 

     Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
