Clark “Sandy” Alexander Lawing, 69, of Old Fort, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville.
He was born in McDowell County on April 13, 1955 to the late Nolan Hubert Lawing and Jean Hoyle McKoy Lawing.
Clark spent his professional years as a heavy equipment operator and diesel mechanic, dedicating himself to his work with expertise and pride. Raised on the family farm, Clark cultivated a love for both the land and the lifestyle it fostered. Throughout his life, he remained rooted in the same place he called home. His dedication to his family and his strong ties to his community were evident in every aspect of his life.
Clark cherished simple pleasures that brought him joy. He loved spending time at the lake, enjoying the tranquility of nature while boating. His adventurous spirit was also expressed in his passion for motorcycles. On any given day, you could find him in his shop where he spent countless hours working on projects and honing his skills, surrounded by the loyal companionship of his beloved dogs. Clark was a very active member of Living Waters Tabernacle where he served as the head of the Van Ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Ann Lawing; two children, Stacy Walden (Sean) and Brandon Lawing (Megan); four grandchildren, Peyton Walden, Addison Walden, Trevor Thomas, and Harper Thomas; and his brother, Nolan “Buddy” Lawing, Jr. (Carol).
