Christopher Wade Johnson

     Christopher Wade Johnson, 52, of Nebo, NC, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, while surrounded by his loved ones at his residence.

     Christopher was born in Oakland County, Michigan, on August 13, 1969, to the late Fred Dewey Johnson and Helen Denise Popp Johnson. He was married to Gwendolyn C. Johnson. Christopher served his country proudly as a US Navy SEAL and as a private security contractor. He served in multiple combat operations in various overseas theaters. He was a member of the VFW and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He will be greatly missed.

     Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Johnson; two children, Tarin Duffey (Bray) and Zachary Johnson; a sister, Kelley Michels (Jeff); a brother, Steve Johnson (Robyn); three nephews, Nicholas Michels, Dominic Michels, and Steven Johnson; and a niece, Taylur Johnson.

     A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
